Sergio Parisse Not Joining Summer Tour

This summer Sergio Parisse will not play opposite to Fiji, Australia and Scotland.

Along with Parisse, Leonardo Ghiraldini, Lorenzo Cittadini and Simone Favaro can also be given the rest

The motive behind this is, Conor O’Shea wants to give some rests with these veteran players

In his squad, O’Shea named four uncapped players. He announced that he is leaving Captain Sergio Parisse out from the squad of 31-man for this summer tour of the year against Fiji, Scotland and Australia.

The coach said, “I wanted to give time to Parisse and three top players of the team the hooker Leonardo Ghiraldini, prop Lorenzo Cittadini and flanker Simone Favaro. During this time, they will recover from the season of 2016-17 and prepare themselves for internationals, which are going to take place in the November.”

Winger Leonardo Sarto and Prop Simone Ferrari return to the team after the injuries which restricted them to play this year in the Six Nations. And in the absence of these players, Italy finished at the bottom of the table.” Continue reading →

WALES GIVES FALETAU TIME TO PROVE FITNESS LEVEL

With Wales in final preparations against their trip to Italy to feature in their clash with Italy, they will be looking to ensure that all players are in top-notch fitness levels ahead of the game.

Taulup Faletau, Wales’s inspirational number eight, is being given enough time to prove his fitness levels before they make the trip for the Six Nations match coming up this weekend.

During the November internationals the Bath player was in superb form. However since their defeat in late December to the Wasps, he has been unable to feature for Bath ever since then.

According to Coach Shaun Edwards, Faletau will be assessed once again by Wednesday. This done, a decision will then be taken on whether he would be in the game or not.

He has seen a lot of progress in recent times but at the moment, he remains a big doubt for the clash holding in Rome. Rob Howley, the stand-in boss will hope to start the competition with a winning in the absence of Warren Gatland.

Edwards, who spoke on the case of the player, hopes Faletau would be fit in time for the game. He didn’t however rule out the possibility of getting a replacement for him if it doesn’t go as hoped. Continue reading →

ITALY CAPTAIN SERGIO PARISSE IN THREE-WEEK BAN

Captain of the Italian Rugby team, Sergio Parisse was recently given a three week ban and will miss Saturday’s Test against Tonga.

In their 20-18 win over South Africa last weekend in Florence, Parisse had earned an Italian record 121st cap. He however, got sanctioned in an incident in his club side game for French Top 14 club, StadeFrancais, on November 5 against Bordeaux.

The French club of leagues had found him guilty of involuntarily hitting the face of an opponent with his foot in the game.

A short statement signed by the Italian rugby federation (FIR) had said,

“Parissehas been suspended for three weeks by Top 14 disciplinary officials. The Italy captain will miss Saturday’s Test against Tonga.”

Conor O’Shea, Italy’s coach had announced his lineup for Tuesday’s Tonga Test with Parisse included, while only one change was made to the squad that stunned their South African counterparts.

However, announcing a revised squad for the Test on Thursday, O’Shea named flanker, Simone Favaro as the captain for the game, while to replace Parisse, was Andries Van Schalkwyk who steps in at No. 8 Continue reading →

Contribution Of Sergio Parisse For Stade Francais

Sergio Parisse is a renowned rugby player who has already shown his captaincy skills for French team that was named as Stade Francais.

He is currently the existing captain of the national rugby team of Italy. There are many good players in the rugby team across the world and Sergio Parisse is one amongst them as he plays exceptionally well and stands up for his team. Nick Mallett chose to bring Sergio Parisse as a replacement for Marco Bortolami so as to bring a new chapter in the Italian rugby history as the player has been of the best performer in the campaign that was held last year.

The rugby player, who is currently 32, has still managed to remain as a strong player in the Italian rugby team. It is not clear on how long he would continue to play and it will certainly not be easy for Italians to cope with his news of retirement.

Stade Francais performance in this season has just been fair. Gonzala Quesada, the former Argentina player and coach explained the reason behind his success during the beginning of this season of rugby. The player had set a framework that helped him to train and work when he made his arrival at Stade. Some of the things he focused on included respecting squad and his playing philosophy. He has also created the space for his players within the framework so that they feel responsible for the destinies that they create for themselves. Continue reading →

Sergio Parisse blasts FIR boss for lack of respect

There is a big problem in the corridors of power in Italian rugby – the playing staff is not entirely happy with decision makers in the federation while the suits are not happy with the way the team has performed in recent events – leading to almost an all out war between the two in the last couple of weeks.

And Italian skipper Sergio Parisse has come out publicly in order to throw some sense into the matter. The extraordinary events were rolled into motion first when the president of the Italian Rugby Federation or the FIR, Alfredo Gavazzi labelled the players in the team as pensioners for the performance they had put in recent tournaments they had taken part in.

The team had slumped to their worst position in the official world rankings after their dismal display in the Six Nations Championships, dropping down to 15th. This means that they are no longer seen as a part of the elite six of European Rugby after Georgia surpassed them to take over in 14th place.

Italy, led by their charismatic skipper Sergio Parisse, did finish in 5th place in the tournament after a miraculous victory against Scotland but previous defeats by huge margins including 23, 30, 29 and 41 points in their four other games as well as winning only four games in their last 23 matches points to a very sorry state of affairs for the team.
